Conducting Resilience Awareness Sharing
On September 5, 2024, the New Myanmar Foundation (NMF)’s Inside Burma Team held a Resilience Awareness Sharing session at an IDP camp in Manipur, India, which was attended by 56 Myanmar IDPs. The session aimed to support these individuals, who have endured severe hardships due to the military junta’s violence, by focusing on three key areas: trauma healing, soothing practices, and post-conflict safety strategies.
Participants were guided through therapeutic exercises designed to help them process their traumatic experiences, followed by practical techniques to manage stress and anxiety, such as deep breathing and mindfulness exercises. The session also provided essential guidance on what steps to take once it is safe to return home, including how to assess safety, rebuild community ties, and access necessary resources. The event was met with positive feedback, offering both immediate emotional relief and long-term strategies for resilience and recovery, further strengthening the IDPs’ ability to rebuild their lives amidst ongoing challenges.
