Conducting International Day of Remembrance of & Tribute to the Victims of Terrorism Campaign
On August 21, 2024, the New Myanmar Foundation (NMF) conducted an online campaign to commemorate the International Day of Remembrance of and Tribute to the Victims of Terrorism, bringing together 18 participants via Zoom from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM (BKK Time). The session served as a platform for reflecting on the devastating impact of terrorism on individuals, families, and communities, both in Myanmar and globally. Participants shared personal stories and discussed the long-lasting psychological, social, and economic consequences faced by victims and survivors.
The discussion highlighted the ongoing challenges in accessing justice for those affected by terrorism and emphasized the importance of centering victims’ voices in efforts to combat terrorism. Additionally, the session underscored the need for comprehensive support systems to aid in the recovery and healing of survivors, as well as stronger legal frameworks to hold perpetrators accountable. The campaign reinforced NMF’s commitment to raising awareness about the impact of terrorism, honoring the memory of those lost, and advocating for the rights and well-being of survivors, while also promoting greater international cooperation to prevent and address terrorism effectively.
