Conducting Women Rights Training
On August 13, 2024, the New Myanmar Foundation (NMF), organized a Women Rights Training in a town of Sagaing Region, bringing together 20 women participants for an empowering two-hour session. The training centered on the critical importance of women’s inclusion across all sectors of society, from governance and the economy to education and healthcare. The discussions addressed the barriers that women often face in these areas and explored practical strategies to overcome them. Participants were also educated on their legal rights and the various protection mechanisms available, with a particular focus on gender equality laws and safeguarding against gender-based violence.
The session emphasized the transformative power of education as a key tool for women’s empowerment, encouraging the participants to pursue learning opportunities for themselves and their children to break the cycle of poverty and inequality. The training successfully raised awareness and instilled a renewed sense of confidence and determination among the women to advocate for their rights and take active roles within their communities. This initiative underscored NMF’s ongoing commitment to promoting gender equality and empowering women in Myanmar, particularly in vulnerable communities.
