Conducting International Youth Day Campaign (2 Times)
On August 12, 2024, the New Myanmar Foundation (NMF) conducted two significant online sessions to mark International Youth Day, drawing a total of 71 participants from across Myanmar. The first session took place from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM (BKK Time) and involved 18 participants representing Magway Region, Yangon Region, Sagaing Region, and Chin State. This session focused on the critical role of youth in advocating for human rights, peace, and community development amidst the ongoing socio-political challenges in these regions. Participants discussed the importance of youth empowerment and the need for stronger collaboration between youth groups and civil society organizations to amplify their collective impact.
The second session, held from 3:30 PM to 4:30 PM (BKK Time) in partnership with The Present Team, engaged youth from Karenni (Kayah State). Despite internet limitations, 53 youths from Karenni joined the discussion through a single Zoom account, bringing the total number of participants in this session to 71. This session provided a platform for Karenni youth to voice their concerns, share their experiences, and explore strategies for resilience and advocacy in conflict-affected areas. Both sessions underscored the vital importance of youth participation in shaping the future of their communities and highlighted the need for ongoing support and platforms for young voices to be heard, especially in regions where their involvement is crucial for development.
