Conducting World Day for International Justice online campaign (July 17, 2024)
On July 17, 2024, from 6 PM to 7 PM (BKK Time), the New Myanmar Foundation (NMF) and its partners successfully conducted a virtual campaign commemorating the World Day for International Justice, attended by 21 participants. The event focused on the crisis in Myanmar and the significance of international justice, starting with an overview of the current situation in Myanmar and discussing the origins and purpose of World Day for International Justice. The concept of international justice, the Rome Statute, and the establishment of the International Criminal Court (ICC) were key topics, along with the main functions of the ICC.
Participants engaged in the discussion about the challenges to international justice, such as political interference and lack of state cooperation, and focused the human rights violations by military junta and the political crisis in Myanmar. The session concluded with recommendations for advancing international justice, including public awareness campaigns, stronger legal frameworks, and support for victims and witnesses, emphasizing a commitment to continued advocacy and action.
