Operational Security Training Batch-2
Conducted on December 14, 2023, by the New Myanmar Foundation and led by Trainer Mr. Lwin Myint, Operational Security Training Batch 2 gathered 16 participants, predominantly 12 females and 4 males from various sectors such as human rights activism and civil society organizations. The training aimed to equip participants with essential knowledge and skills to enhance their personal security and digital presence, covering operational security concepts, threat assessment, best practices, and practical security measures tailored to the challenges faced by activists in Myanmar’s political climate. The objective was to empower participants to protect their digital information and operational security, enabling them to safely conduct human rights activities amidst heightened risks. Interactive discussions focused on strategies for information compartmentalization, managing interactions with military authorities, and evading surveillance. The structured agenda included introductions, two parts of operational security training, a discussion session, feedback collection, and a closing summary.
The training equipped participants with comprehensive knowledge and practical skills, fostering resilience and security consciousness. The anticipated impact includes cascading security awareness throughout broader activist networks, strengthening network resilience and reducing disruption risks to frontline rights efforts. The gender disparity, with females comprising 76% of participants, highlights the need for future inclusivity in program planning. Participants’ feedback was overwhelmingly positive, indicating high satisfaction with the course content and preparations. This report underscores the effective delivery and positive impact of Operational Security Training Batch 2 in enhancing security resilience among human rights defenders in Myanmar.
