Asia Democracy Assembly 2023 attended by Executive Director of New Myanmar Foundation Dr. Sann Aung
Dr. Sann Aung, Executive Director of the New Myanmar Foundation (NMF), participated in the Asia Democracy Assembly 2023, themed “Fostering Democracy Movements: Building Strategic Partnerships and Sustainable Cooperation in Asia.” Celebrating a decade of solidarity and advocacy for democracy and human rights in Asia, the assembly was a vital platform for dialogue and collaboration.
On the first day, participants, including Dr. Sann Aung, reflected on past achievements and challenges, drawing inspiration for future endeavours. The second day focused on strategic planning through RISETalks and RISEHuddles, where attendees shared insights and formulated action plans. Pre-assembly thematic sessions addressed core issues such as transnational repression and disinformation, highlighting urgent concerns and strategies for promoting democracy. Dr. Sann Aung’s involvement highlighted NMF’s dedication to democratic values and the assembly’s role in fostering sustainable partnerships and cooperative efforts in Asia.
