Male Hairdressing Training (Batch 4)
The New Myanmar Foundation conducted its fourth Men Hairdressing Training Batch starting on December 27, 2022 and ending on January 30, 2023 with 12 internally displaced men (IDPs) participating. The five-week program included two weeks of theoretical lectures followed by three weeks of intensive practical training. Participants learned essential skills such as shampooing, haircuts, hair dyeing, hair highlighting, and face washing, and applied these skills in real-world settings.
Despite the training’s effectiveness, several challenges emerged. Logistical issues included coordinating consistent attendance due to the unstable living conditions of IDPs and limited access to professional-grade equipment, which hindered the quality of hands-on practice. Additionally, some participants struggled to master the skills within the given timeframe, necessitating additional support and follow-up sessions. Nevertheless, the training program significantly enhanced the participants’ vocational skills and job prospects. Following completion, NMF is committed to assisting successful graduates in securing employment, thereby fostering their economic independence and resilience.
