Male Hairdressing Training (Batch 3)
The New Myanmar Foundation conducted its third Male Hairdressing Training Batch from November 15, 2022, to December 22, 2022, with 11 internally displaced men (IDPs) participating. The five-week program included two weeks of lectures and three weeks of practical training, covering essential skills such as shampooing, haircuts, hair dyeing, hair highlighting, and face washing. Participants received hands-on experience, allowing them to apply their newly acquired skills in real-world settings. The training aimed to enhance the men’s employability and provide them with viable means to support themselves and their families, fostering economic independence and resilience.
However, the program faced several challenges, including logistical difficulties in ensuring consistent attendance due to the unstable living conditions of IDPs. Limited access to professional-grade equipment and materials also posed a challenge, affecting the quality of hands-on practice. Additionally, some participants required more time to master the skills, necessitating extended support and follow-up sessions. Despite these obstacles, the program successfully equipped the men with valuable hairdressing skills, contributing to their personal and professional development and supporting the foundation’s mission of empowering vulnerable communities through practical vocational training.
