Resilience Training (May 17 to May 19, 2022)
From May 17 to May 19, 2022, the New Myanmar Foundation (NMF), with the support of FHI 360, conducted a Resilience Training for 70 Human Rights Defenders and Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) inside Myanmar, comprising 36 males and 34 females. The training aimed to strengthen psychological resilience, equip participants with stress and trauma management strategies, and foster a supportive network among participants.
Participants engaged in interactive lectures, group activities, mindfulness exercises, and practical role-plays, resulting in enhanced resilience, improved mental health, and strengthened community ties. Despite challenges such as limited access to safe venues and initial psychological barriers, the training successfully achieved its objectives, with participants reporting reduced stress levels and improved self-care practices. Continued support and similar initiatives are recommended to further strengthen the resilience and well-being of Human Rights Defenders and IDPs in Myanmar.
