Agriculture Support Activities (2022)
In 2022, the New Myanmar Foundation (NMF) implemented a comprehensive Agriculture Support Program aimed at bolstering the livelihoods and food security of Burmese migrant farmers in Maesot, Thailand. Through this initiative, NMF provided cash support and advanced farming methods to two migrant farmers, enabling them to generate income and ensure food security for their families and the broader community.
The program’s objectives were to enhance agricultural productivity and stability for these families and to extend support to recently arrived refugees residing in NMF SafeHouse facilities by sharing surplus vegetables. To facilitate these outcomes, NMF funded essential farming inputs, including seeds, water pipelines, machinery, an electricity box for the farm, and other necessary raw materials. This support significantly improved the farmers’ capacity to produce food, thereby contributing to both family sustenance and community welfare.
