Migrant Children Capacity Building Activities (2022)
In early 2022, NMF initiated a four-month program in Mae Sot, Thailand, aimed at supporting the mental health, friendship and soft skills for migrant children. The objectives of the activity were to strengthen their mental and physical health, enhance their skills, and promote friendship among migrant children and their families.
Esteemed volunteers, committed to the well-being of these children, spearheaded the program. The children’s parents, primarily low-income earners working in the informal sector, struggle to afford their children’s education. Additionally, due to the coup, many families fled to border areas, resulting in children losing access to education and becoming illiterate.
Understanding that education is a fundamental human right, our program provided a crucial lifeline, offering these children the support they needed to thrive. Through a combination of mental health support, friendship-building activities, and skill development sessions, we aimed to create a nurturing environment where these children could regain their educational footing and build a brighter future.
