Conducting International Day of Rural Women Awareness Sharing
On October 15, 2024, the New Myanmar Foundation (NMF) held an International Day of Rural Women Awareness Sharing Campaign via Zoom, attended by 22 participants, including survivors of conflict-related sexual violence (CRSV). The event highlighted the essential role of rural women in agriculture, food security, and rural development, as well as the unique challenges they face, such as economic inequality, limited access to education and healthcare, insecure land rights, and gender-based violence.
Participants discussed these issues, emphasizing the need for financial support, legal reforms, improved services, and stronger community engagement to empower rural women and promote gender equality. Recommendations were made for both international and local stakeholders to enhance support for rural women through targeted initiatives, policy advocacy, and community-based programs.
