Female Hairdressing Training (Batch 4)
The New Myanmar Foundation conducted its fourth female Hairdressing Training Batch for displaced Myanmar people in Mae Sot, Thailand, beginning on January 4, 2023 and ending on February 10, 2023. The five-week program was attended by 11 internally displaced women who received comprehensive training in the basics of shampooing, hair cutting, straightening, curling, digital curling, hair dyeing, and hair straightening. The training included both theoretical instruction and practical field practice, ensuring participants gained hands-on experience. Upon course completion,
NMF committed to assisting successful graduates in finding employment, thereby enhancing their job prospects and economic stability. Despite the program’s success, several challenges were encountered. Logistical difficulties included organizing consistent attendance due to the unstable living conditions of IDPs and limited access to professional-grade equipment, which affected the quality of hands-on practice. Additionally, the varying skill acquisition rates among participants required extended support and follow-up sessions to ensure all participants could reach a proficient skill level. Nonetheless, the training program significantly empowered participants by providing them with valuable vocational skills, improving their job prospects, and contributing to their economic independence and resilience.
