Launching Vocational (Sewing Machine) Training Program (Karenni)
The New Myanmar Foundation, with the generous support of the French Embassy and in collaboration with The Present Team, successfully implemented a Vocational Training Program aimed at empowering internally displaced women (IDP) in Karenni. This initiative, which included purchasing sewing machines and other raw materials, was conducted through two training sessions from February 1-10, 2024, and March 10-28, 2024 with the totals of 35 participants. The program’s primary objectives were to develop practical vocational skills, empower women to achieve self-reliance, and facilitate their integration into the local community. The training covered skills in sewing, handicrafts, and food processing, tailored to meet the specific needs of the participants. The Present Team played a vital role in facilitating these sessions, ensuring cultural relevance and providing ongoing support.
As a result, participants enhanced their skills, increased their confidence, and engaged more with the community. The program has shown sustainable impact by creating long-term economic opportunities and contributing to community development. The Vocational Training Program exemplifies the positive outcomes of collaborative partnerships and remains a testament to the commitment of the New Myanmar Foundation and its partners in supporting the empowerment of vulnerable women in the region.
