Support to Migrant Farmers (November 29, 2021)
On November 29, 2021, with the support of the Smile Project, the New Myanmar Foundation (NMF) provided cash support to 10 migrant farmers in MaeKu Village, Maesot, Thialand, for seeds and materials needed for their farms. These farmers included individuals who fled Myanmar after the 1988 revolution, the 2007 Saffron Revolution, and the recent 2021 military coup. During the support distribution, NMF members discussed the various difficulties faced by these migrant farmers and offered advice on agricultural processes.
This initiative aimed to alleviate some of the financial burdens on the farmers, ensuring they had the necessary resources to sustain their farms and improve their livelihoods despite their challenging circumstances. The engagement also fostered a sense of community and solidarity, as NMF addressed both the immediate and long-term needs of the migrant farmers.
