To the people of Burma,
This letter is composed with profound and inconsolable sorrow.
At approximately 11:25 PM on October 9th, 2023, the military junta executed a targeted airstrike on an Internally Displaced Persons (IDP) camp in Mon Lai Khet village, Laiza town, Kachin State. This heinous attack resulted in the loss of 50 civilian lives, including 11 children, and left several individuals seriously injured. Furthermore, this brutal attack led to the extensive destruction of 50 civilian houses.
For numerous years, the Burmese military has been perpetrating such violent acts, using excessive force, brutal torture, and cold-blooded killings against innocent civilians. These grave human rights violations committed by the military, particularly against ethnic minorities, have often remained concealed from the public eye due to restricted access to information and deficiencies in the dissemination of information.
The overthrow of the Burmese military and the oppressive regime is an inherent responsibility of each and every citizen. This endeavor must be undertaken with the unity of the entire Burmese population.
We extend our deepest respect and admiration to all Burmese civilians who are vehemently opposing the military regime in any way they can. Furthermore, we strongly believe that our people will persevere in their pursuit of democracy and human rights despite the formidable challenges they face.
We make a special plea to the Burmese people in international communities to offer unwavering support to those individuals who are tirelessly working to restore democracy and human rights in Burma.
We reiterate our commitment, standing in solidarity with the Burmese people, to continue this struggle until the military regime is completely eradicated from Burma.
